Fairfield, October 3, 2024: Even the youngest of fans can get into the game at the upcoming Taube/Kennedy-Grossman Solano Challenger.
Children from 6 to 16 will have the opportunity to have the chance to be part of the action and enjoy a day of tennis fun during the tournament, which returns to Solano Community College Oct. 6-13,
Saturday Oct. 12 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. is Kids Day at the tournament and highlights include:
• Hands-on Play: A chance to learn about the sport and play with equipment on the extra courts at the college.
• Player Escort Experience: Throughout the tournament, lucky kids will be randomly selected to coin flip and escort their favorite players onto the match court! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to walk alongside the stars of tennis!
• Creative Corner: A face painter will be on hand to transform little ones into their favorite sports heroes or wild creatures. Let their imaginations run wild!
• Watch Party: Kids can enjoy a fun-filled free watch party in the Ball Kid Lounge, where they can gather to cheer on the players, make new friends, and enjoy the thrilling matches in a relaxed atmosphere.
Kids Day is an important part of the event, explained Raf Rovira, head tennis coach at the college and director of operations for the tournament. “It gives the young ones a chance to be introduced to the sport that they may not otherwise play unless they joint a club,” he said. “They can get up close to the players and enjoy watching the matches in a fun setting with other kids their age.”

The tournament is part of the Association of Tennis Professionals’ Challenger series and features many of the top up-and-coming players from around the world. There will 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams competing.
